Why we should worship Allah?
FATHIMA SHAHANA
I have only created Jinns and men, that they may serve Me.
(Al-Quran 51:56)
Through this quranic verse, we can realize that Allah has created Jins and men only to worship him.
How to worship Allah.
Worshiping Allah means that we should obey Allah’s every order and we should avoid what he said to keep away from our lives.
An agreement between Allah and a Muslim.
Muslims had an agreement with Allah as ‘There is no God except Allah, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is a messenger of Allah’ (kaleema). According to this agreement, a muslim as a slave of Allah, he should obey his Master Allah in every positions of his life.
For an example when a person works under a firm, he works under a manager of that firm and obey every rule and regulations of that firm. He compromises his family events and tries to do his work perfectly. He tries to be loyal to that firm where he works.
As same as the above, a muslim also should obey his Master, Allah’s commands according to the agreement what he has promised to Allah.
In the agreement the first thing is, a muslim promises to Allah that ‘there is no God except Allah’. But many muslims do not worship Allah. They are name sake muslims. There are some muslims, they worship Allah and make equal partner to Allah. They listen to some humans like thangals and shehu whatever they say and obey their orders blindly. Some ask their needful from dead persons (they say Avliya).
They make equality to the powers of Allah with these activities. They unknowingly break their promise to Allah.
May Allah protects everyone from this situation.
Allah says,
"Shall I take for my protector any other than God, the Maker of the heavens and the earth? And He it is that feedeth but is not fed." Say: "Nay! but I am commanded to be the first of those who bow to God (in Islam), and be not thou of the company of those who join gods with God."
(Al-Quran 6:14)
"Come, I will rehearse what God hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret; take not life, which God hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.
(Al-Quran 6:151)
God forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with God is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed.
(Al-Quran 4:48)
Behold, Luqman said to his son by way of instruction: "O my son! join not in worship (others) with God: for false worship is indeed the highest wrong-doing."
(Al-Quran 31:13)
Next, some muslims even though they worship only Allah, they break their second agreement which they promised Allah that ‘Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is a messenger of Allah’. Messenger’s holy work is to bring message from Allah to the people. Therefore we should take Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as a model in our life and obey Allah’s commands. But many muslims, they fail to live like Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as a model and they in take new things (bithath what prophet Muhammad never did his life) to their life. Ex: Celebrating birthday parties, Reciting moulood etc...
Ye have indeed in the Apostle of God a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in God and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of God
(Quran) 33.21
Should we take lessons from prophet Ibrahim’s (A) life?
We all know prophet Ibrahim (A) life history. We should examine ourselves that we have taken any lessons through prophet Ibrahim (A) life.
Prophet Ibrahim (A) the man who struggled against his father who worshiped statues, and his community for the right path of Allah. He didn’t even consider about his life.
Lo! Abraham said to his father Azar: "Takest thou idols for gods? For I see thee and thy people in manifest error."
(Al-Quran 6:74)
Abraham was indeed a model, devoutly obedient to God, (and) true in Faith, and he joined not gods with God
(Al-Quran 16:120)
They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!"
(Al-Quran 37:97)
Prophet Ibrahim (A) had a child in his elderly age. But he became to slaughter his son Prophet Ismail (A) for Allah’s order. He proved that he will do anything for Allah.
"Praise be to God, Who hath granted unto me in old age Isma'il and Isaac: for truly my Lord is He, the Hearer of Prayer!
(Al-Quran 14:39)
Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if God so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!"
So when they had both submitted their wills (to God), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice),
We called out to him "O Abraham!
"Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!" - thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
For this was obviously a trial
(Al-Quran 37:102-106)
Allah says that this was a great trial to prophet Ibrahim (A). But we will never get these kinds of critical trials from Allah anymore. We can bear the examinations how Allah test us. But we fail in all. We concern always our desires. This world is a test for the true muslims.
Narrated by Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "If Allah wants to do good to somebody, He afflicts him with trials."
(Buhari 5645)
When we have moment like, Allah or our spouse, Allah or our parents, Allah or our children, Allah or someone we most like, we must select Allah without thinking. We should obey Allah’s every commands through Prophet Muhammad’s life.
Narrated by Abu Huraira:
"Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hands my life is, none of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father and his children."
(Buhari 14)
Therefore, we try to live only for Allah in every moments of our life to get paradise without doing innovations.

Therefore, celebrating Christmas is prohibited in Islam. Allah guides us to be his right path to go to heaven and get rewards for here and the hereafter lives.
Can Muslims celebrate Christmas?
FATHIMA SHAHANA
O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of God aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a Messenger of God, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in God and His Messengers. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for God is One God: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is God as a Disposer of affairs. (Al-Quran 4:171)
Christians worship Isa (A) as God, God’s son and spirit. They celebrate Christmas for Jesus birthday as they believe. But actually, we do not know what the Christmas holiday is all about.
The History of Christmas celebration.
here are very few people in the world today who do not know what the Christmas holiday is all about. Christmas, as we know it today, is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, which happened over 2000 years ago. The word “Christmas” translates to “Mass Of Christ”. However, we can all be sure that the celebration of the Christmas holiday did not start right away. So how did the actual celebration of the Christmas holiday begin?
Believe it or not, many of the traditions that we observe during the Christmas holiday season began way before the birth of Christ. Exchanging gifts, decorating trees, and the burning of the Yule log were all winter traditions that began before Christ was born, but were eventually incorporated into the holiday that became known as Christmas, and became part of Christmas history.
Over 4000 years ago, the Mesopotamians celebrated each new year with a 12-day festival, called Zagmuth. The Mesopotamians, who believed in many gods, held this festival in support of their chief god, Marduk, because they believed that he battled the monsters of chaos at the beginning of each winter. It is from this festival that the 12 days of Christmas is believed to have originated.
The ancient Romans held a celebration each year in honor of their god Saturn. The festival, which they called Saturnalia, began in the middle of December and lasted until the first of January. The Romans decorated their homes with garlands, as well as trees upon which they hung candles. During the festival the citizens of Rome would visit each other’s homes and hold great feasts. One of the theories of how the tradition of the giving of Christmas gifts came about was from the Roman practice of exchanging gifts between family and neighbors during the festival of Saturnalia to promote good luck.
During the winter in ancient Scandinavia there would be a certain amount of days where the sun would not shine. Upon the return of the first sunlight, the Scandinavians would hold a festival called the Yuletide. A Yule log would be burned in a special fire, and everyone would gather around the fire and hold a great feast. To remind themselves that the spring and summer would surely return again, people in some areas of Scandinavia would tie apples to tree branches. The tradition of the Christmas tree is believed to have evolved from this ritual, as well as from the Roman ritual of decorating trees with candles during the festival of Saturnalia. Some believe that the tradition of singing carols began when people in Scandinavia would sing celebration songs on the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, which happened around December 22nd.
One theory about the evolution of the winter celebrations to the celebration of the birth of Jesus is that the Roman emperor Constantine, who converted to Christianity, wanted to incorporate the pagan winter rituals together with the celebration of Jesus’ birth. In this way, Constantine hoped to help both pagans and Christians celebrate together. Many believe that this is the reason for celebrating the birth of Christ on December 25th. It is widely believed today that Jesus was not actually born on, or even close to, December 25th. Eventually, the Roman church became almost completely successful in making the December celebration only about the birth of Christ, replacing any celebrations that were in honor of pagan gods.
The status of Muslims who follows the others culture.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) says,
Who ever follows others (non believers), he is not in ours. Narrated by Ibnu Omar
(Abuthavoodh 3512)
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) says, whoever follows other’s culture, they are similar to them.
Now many Muslims celebrate Christmas with their friends and neighbors. They wish each other and do every activity like them in the celebration. We are the people who worship only Allah. But through these activities we give support to non believers for their religion activities being Muslims. We have a responsibility to explain them what Islam says. But we loose these chances. We should protect them from hell fire. This is sorrowful.
Another thing when they make ‘Christmas cake’, they add brandy into the cake. Our Muslims eat this cake knowingly.
Alcohol is prohibited in Islam.
O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of Satan's handwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper. (Al-Quran 5:90)
Narrated by Anas:
I was the butler of the people in the house of Abu Talha, and in those days drinks were prepared from dates. Allah's Apostle ordered somebody to announce that alcoholic drinks had been prohibited. Abu Talha ordered me to go out and spill the wine. I went out and spilled it, and it flowed in the streets of Medina. Some people said, "Some people were killed and wine was still in their stomachs." On that the Divine revelation came:-- "On those who believe And do good deeds There is no blame For what they ate (in the past)." (5.93) (Buhari 2464)
Narrated by Ibn 'Umar:
"Alcoholic drinks were prohibited (by Allah) when there was nothing of it (special kind of wine) in Medina.
(Buhari 5579)
And also Christians eat pork. Pork is also prohibited in Islam. If they send food to our houses, we can eat. But we should avoid when they give prohibited foods in Islam.
He has only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and any (food) over which the name of other than God has been invoked. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits, - then God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful
(Al-Quran 16:115)
